Science
The Science curriculum for the Snoqualmie Valley School District in second grade is Science Companion: Life Cycles, Fossils, and Solids/Liquids.
The Life Cycle curriculum contains two units. In each of these units the students will experience the diversity of life as it changes. The class will watch the stages in the life cycle of butterflies in the Spring and learn about the survival needs of plants in the Fall.
The Fossils and the Liquids/Solids units will be taught in Winter. Throughout all of our science units, the students will begin to organize, compare, observe, and communicate through calendar recordings and scientific journal keeping.
You can help by...
Encouraging and fostering a sense of questioning and curiosity.
Asking and accepting how and why questions.
Encouraging your child to think about a variety of possible solutions for any given problem.
